ITS - The exhibition on the rail project turns five - Almost 700,000 visitors since opening in May 2020 - Anniversary events at Whitsun
The Stuttgart-Ulm rail project association is celebrating the first half-anniversary of the InfoTurmStuttgart (ITS for short) on Thursday, May 29, 2025. This day at 9 a.m. marks the fifth anniversary of the opening of the InfoTurmStuttgart (ITS). Almost 700,000 interested people, mainly from Baden-Württemberg but also from all over the world, have visited the exhibition since then. It has also been the starting point for a good 6,300 guided tours of the construction site and the location for over a dozen event formats, such as ITS Wine Time and the ITS Kids Club. Over the past five years, the ITS has thus become a permanent fixture in Stuttgart in the fields of exhibitions and information as well as tourism and event locations.
"Since the ITS opened on May 29, 2020, 97 percent of all visitors feel well to very well informed about the issues surrounding Stuttgart 21 when they leave our exhibition. This is an overwhelming response, which makes us very satisfied and is also an incentive for the coming period," says Bernhard Bauer, Chairman of the Stuttgart-Ulm Railway Project Association. "All of the association's partners have made a significant contribution to keeping the exhibition up-to-date, modern and innovative over the past five years. My sincere thanks for this. With five selected event formats, we once again want to offer citizens special experiences in the ITS and insights into the project on the Whitsun weekend."
To mark the anniversary, visitors can look forward to a varied program of events including concerts, family activities and exclusive short tours of the construction site. The formats combine information, experiences and encounters in a unique way.
"Fact-based, transparent and close to the people - these were the conceptual guidelines that are the foundation of InfoTurmStuttgart's success," continues Bauer. "The fact that the ITS has developed into a place of encounter, exchange and enthusiasm for technology in just five years is thanks to the diversity of our services and the great commitment of our team. My heartfelt thanks therefore go to the entire team of the association, who work with passion and creativity every day to make the rail project understandable and tangible."
The events are listed on the homepage its-project.com and on the association's social media channels (@infoturmstuttgart).

Special features of the ITS
Accessibility:
The structure of the exhibition also bears a contemporary signature. In addition to the use of state-of-the-art technology, all texts have been written in understandable language. This is confirmed by a certificate from the University of Hohenheim.
In addition, the exhibition concept was further developed with the help of DIPB e.V. (Dachverband Integratives Planen und Bauen e.V.) and the Württemberg Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. This resulted in two exhibits that help to convey knowledge to people with disabilities. Tactile guidance systems are installed in the exhibition itself. The BFW SmartInfo app offers a digital orientation system with audible room descriptions. Tactile QR codes make it possible to call up the content of the print walls and monitors. This makes the texts accessible to visually impaired visitors. Individual exhibits are also provided with Braille.
Unique technologies "Made in Baden-Württemberg
A so-called "cave", in which five projectors cover three walls and the floor, thus covering the entire field of vision, enables a virtual tour of the future main station. Visitors can also navigate interactively through this virtual projection. This technology was developed by the Stuttgart-based company lightshape in cooperation with the visual communication agency Plan B and is unique in the field of public relations for an infrastructure project.
A large architectural model offers various insights into the future Stuttgart Central Station. Visitors can use tablets to overlay additional digital content on top. This technology, known as augmented reality, was developed by the Fellbach-based innovative software company CDM Tech.
