82,000 enthusiastic visitors in fantastic weather at the 2026 Construction Site Open Days - Over 600,000 people interested in the project have now been able to see the construction progress for ten years
The Stuttgart-Ulm rail project association, together with DB Projekt Stuttgart-Ulm GmbH (PSU), opened the construction site gates around Stuttgart Central Station for three days from Holy Saturday (April 4) up to and including Easter Monday (April 6). This was the tenth time that the successful „Open Construction Site Days“ series of events had taken place. With the number of visitors from the third day, bright sunshine and a slightly increased ticket contingent, this year over 82,000 interested people were able to take a look at the construction progress around the heart of Stuttgart 21, the new Stuttgart Central Station. The focus of this year's event was the modernized Bonatzbau, which was not accessible last year.
„For ten years, over 600,000 enthusiastic people interested in the project have been able to see the progress of construction work on Stuttgart 21 for themselves,“ said Bernhard Bauer, Chairman of the Stuttgart-Ulm Railway Project Association, at the end of this year's event. „From numerous conversations, I have once again learned that people are looking forward to the new station, that the outstanding architecture is a source of amazement and that the new Bonatzbau with its changed appearance in the interior has already been taken to heart.“
„It is a matter close to my heart to thank everyone involved in making this event possible. I firmly believe that it is worth showing people what an impressive but also complex project is being realized here. This builds confidence in the performance of the engineers, construction workers and planners. This will also enable us to master the challenges ahead,“ says Bauer, summing up his impressions. „A very special thank you goes to the 82,000 visitors who took the time to come to the construction site over the last three days to find out more. They have made the event something very special with their enthusiasm and enjoyment. This makes the Open Construction Site Days one of the biggest events in Stuttgart.“ Thanks also go to all those who have flocked to the construction site full of curiosity and interest for over ten years - to all 621,000!
