Stuttgart 21: more than 115,000 visitors attended the three open days at the 2024 construction site
The association Bahnprojekt Stuttgart-Ulm e. V. invited visitors to the three open construction site days around Stuttgart Central Station from Holy Saturday (30.03.2024) up to and including Easter Monday (today).
„The response to the project from over 115,000 visitors was sensational. In numerous conversations, we could really feel people's anticipation for the new station,“ summarized a visibly satisfied Bernhard Bauer, Chairman of the Stuttgart-Ulm rail project association. „They came from all over Baden-Württemberg to see the heart of Stuttgart 21, the construction work around the new platform hall, with their own eyes - and they were thrilled. Everyone is looking forward to the opening of the new station.“ Many took the opportunity to talk to the experts in person at the more than twenty information stands, Bauer continued. The overwhelming and positive feedback once again motivated everyone involved to put all their energy into completing the project as soon as possible.
The more than 115,000 interested visitors this year brought the association a Best mark. Despite intermittent drizzle and colder temperatures compared to the two previous days, the interested guests took a look at the station conversion with the striking chalice-shaped columns, the first light eyes and platforms in the station trough as well as the conversion of the Bonatz building. More than 100 experts provided visitors with information at around 20 information stands, including on the progress of construction, the Stuttgart Digital Node and local and regional transport (bwegt) as well as the Stuttgart S-Bahn and the planned Stuttgart Rosenstein district.
„My heartfelt thanks go to the experts who have patiently provided information on their respective specialist areas over the last few days. My thanks also go to my team, who, together with those involved in the construction, made this event possible in the first place,“ Bauer emphasizes with regard to the organizational achievement. „This extra shift was well worth it. Finally, my thanks also go to the incredibly patient guests, some of whom waited over an hour to be admitted to the construction site area.“
The Stuttgart-Ulm rail project association, together with DB Projekt Stuttgart-Ulm GmbH and its partners, has been organizing the opportunity for citizens to visit the construction site since 2016. This year's event was the eighth of its kind. No tours were possible in the coronavirus year 2021.
All the association's information on the open construction site days can be found on the homepage www.its-projekt.de as well as on the Facebook and Instagram channels (@infoturmstuttgart).
