Stuttgart 21: Open Construction Site Days 2024 - 31,000 interested visitors give the three-day event an overwhelming start
The association Bahnprojekt Stuttgart-Ulm e. V. invites you to the eighth open construction site days around Stuttgart Central Station from today (30.03.2024).
Until Easter Monday, April 1, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., interested visitors can view the new station building with the striking chalice-shaped columns, the closed platform hall roof and the first light eyes, the first platforms in the station trough and the conversion of the Bonatz building. Experts will inform visitors at around 20 information stands about construction progress, the Stuttgart Digital Node and local and regional transport (bwegt) as well as the Stuttgart S-Bahn and the planned Stuttgart Rosenstein district. The two entrances to the construction site are located near the station tower and near the Staatsgalerie / Wulle-Steg stop. The last admission is at 16:30. Admission is free.
„Around 31,000 visitors took advantage of the opportunity on the very first day and to get an impression of the construction progress in and around the station,“ says Bernhard Bauer, Chairman of the Stuttgart-Ulm rail project association, who had not expected such a fantastic start to the event. „Together with our partners, we are delighted that we can once again enable people to see the construction progress directly and on site. In addition to seeing the construction site in person, the focus for many is on direct interaction with the experts.“
„The construction progress on the through station is enormous. The project is heading towards the home straight for all to see,“ continues Bauer.
„After the discussions of the last few weeks, people want to see what's going on and get first-hand information,“ says Bauer, summarizing the discussions with visitors. „The topics of delays and costs only played a marginal role. The fascination of the building and the construction technology as well as digitalization were of most interest.“
The Stuttgart-Ulm railroad project association, together with DB Projekt Stuttgart-Ulm GmbH and its partners, has been organizing the opportunity for citizens to visit the construction site since 2016. Last year, over 90,000 visitors came to experience the construction progress over the three days. In addition to the specialist topics and the impressive buildings, the youngest visitors were also catered for: with children's excavators, a children's Easter rally and painting and search stations, the whole family can enjoy a visit. The event has been taking place since 2016 and this year's is the eighth of its kind. In the coronavirus year 2021, it was not possible to visit to this extent.
All the association's information on the open construction site days can be found on the homepage www.its-projekt.de as well as on the Facebook and Instagram channels (@infoturmstuttgart).
